Black Horse Tavern Canonsburg T-Shirt | Bella + Canvas 3001
Opened in 1794 by Henry Westbay, the Black Horse Tavern of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania was a site of much significance during the Whiskey Rebellion. This interpretive design shows what the sign of this tavern may have looked like, featuring design elements inspired by other surviving 18th century tavern signs. Black Horse was a common name for taverns of the era, with other establishments of the same name in cities such as Manhattan, Philadelphia, Lancaster, Gettysburg, and many more. The Black Horse Tavern of Canonsburg was demolished in 1910.
