Andrew Lyle Russell’s The Freighter brings the western Pennsylvania frontier to life through the historical events and figures of the Whiskey Rebellion in the 1790s. The life of Marmaduke Vinson, a fictional whiskey freighter from Cross Creek, is quickly entangled in the events of the insurrection alongside many names prevalent in Pittsburgh history like John Neville, David Bradford, William Graham, John Canon, James Marshall, and even Alexander Hamilton. This new version, the first to be printed since 1915, is a commemorative edition for the 110th anniversary of the the original, and is part of North Vandalia Press' Whiskey Rebellion Library collection.
